Taylor Swift In Style

Taylor Swift has been opting for more sophisticated designer fare of late, and steadily earning praise on the red carpet as a result. She seems to have graduated from those overly sequined, prom-style dresses to more sleek and refined gowns. Maybe her straightened locks were the catalyst for the transformation because even her street style appears to have blossomed since last year.

The singer’s sequin obsession seemed so evident back in October 2010 that her wax figure at Madame Tussauds New York was outfitted in an embellished Jenny Packham. In a slightly odd tribute, Taylor actually wore the same dress and black Christian Louboutins to the unveiling.

By the time Taylor appeared at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City the following October to launch her Wonderstruck fragrance, she was already starting to tone it down. Her black Tracy Reese striped sheer dress included a nude underlay and some subtle sparkle. Vintage House of Lavande jewels and black Miu Miu peep-toes finished off the look.

Reem Acra’s embellished Spring 2012 column gown was Taylor’s pick last November for the 2011 American Music Awards in Los Angeles. Jimmy Choo heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry along with her now signature straight hair rounded out the look.

Taylor was presented with the Woman of the Year Award in December at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event in New York City. Her fiery Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 draped dress with matching leather belt was teamed with Lorraine Schwartz gems and nude Prada pumps.

When she visited the Diana Memorial in London this January, Taylor toughened up her ASOS NW3 Annabel Cat Print dress with a Rick Owens leather biker jacket. She also carried a Rugby Ralph Lauren Pony Hair Saddle Bag.

Although Taylor was once again outfitted in sequins for February’s 54th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, her Zuhair Murad Fall 2011 Couture beaded gown had a bit of an edge. Neil Lane jewelry and a bun wrapped up the look.

Three days later, the star grabbed lunch at Toast Cafe in West Hollywood wearing a polka dot Dolce & Gabbana. She accessorized with a pair of Ricky sunglasses and an aqua saddle bag, both by Ralph Lauren.

It was this white J. Mendel Fall 2012 gown with metallic accents Taylor wore to the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas this April that really solidified her style evolution. Lorraine Schwartz gems and Christian Louboutin Summerissima crisscross platform sandals completed the look.

Taylor also made an impression at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards last month. She was a standout in a red Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2012 chiffon gown with lace bodice. Elie Saab was also behind her shoes, while she relied on Neil Lane for her jewelry.
