Olivia Wilde looked absolutely spectacular at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards. The House actress wore a stunning floor-length gown by Reem Acra from his Spring 2008 collection. The ivory chiffon and satin dress had a twisted sweetheart neckline and beautiful beaded cap sleeves.

Olivia Wilde wore a fully beaded jet and silver sequined Gucci evening gown, Jimmy Choo shoes, Tiffany & Co. jewels and Judith Leiber clutch at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards

What an anniversary. Our 100th post! We always knew we'd do something extra fabulous for our 100th post and it only made sense that it would be about fashion. We thought about doing different fashion trends, fashion icons and styles to write about and then decided to just do the ultimate list. This list talks about fleeting trends, iconic fashion women of the world and some of our favorite fashion trends. We are writing this to satisfy our love for fashion, for our fans & readers and for fashionistas all over the world. We are so excited to present you this amazing and comprehensive list of the best fashion trends of all time!

 #1 The Pencil Skirt
The original Pencil Skirt dates back to 1950's America. Although the pencil skirt has been somewhat shortened since then, well, and tightened now that I think about it, it has remained a staple in women's wardrobes for over five decades. The slimming silhouette is a sexy shape that leaves quite a bit to the imagination. Although the pencil skirt has changed somewhat in regards to length, fabrics and colors, it has stood the test of time and it's on our list of the best fashion trends of all time!

 #2 The Kitten Heel

The kitten heel was popularized by the great fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn and has been sported by fashion icons since! They were first made popular in the 1960s and diminished (thanks to the stiletto heel) and re-emerged in the 1980s. This is another oldie, but a goodie. Style tip: Don't wear rounded kitten heels. They look much more chic in a pointed toe. And it adds length to the legs because the 1.5 inches just don't cut it!

 #3 Mini Motorcycle Jackets

Everyone from Park Avenue princesses to Boho rocker chicks are sporting the shrunken motorcycle jacket look. It's one of our favorite pieces of this decade and I believe the trend is here to stay. That's right, you heard it here first! I realize that the motorcycle jacket trend is nothing new: (hello Marlon Brando anyone?), but the way it's worn now is for fashion purposes and has nothing to do with teen angst and rebellion.

#4 Oversized Sunglasses
Fashionistas of the world get to wear awesome over-sized sunglasses thanks to Jackie O. Although they were first made famous in the late 1960's this style trend has been going strong ever since. (Except the 90's when people started wearing those ugly, small oval frames. Yikes!) There's nothing that goes better with a Pucci bikini, the beach and a mimosa than a pair of Jackie O sunglasses.

 #5 Menswear Inspired Blazer
Menswear inspired blazers aka. the boyfriend blazer became popular in the late 1980's. Yes, women wore blazers previously but only as a contradiction or as a "f-you" to society. The only bad press these blazers ever got was from the 80's when extreme shoulder pads came into play.Today the blazer is uber-versatile; wear it with a cocktail dress, to an interview or with a t-shirt -- it all goes!

 #6 Pearls
They can be seen on royalty, sorority sisters, congress women and spoiled private school girls. Mikimoto was the genius who began to simulate the pearl making process in 1893 and has been making amazing pearl jewelry ever since!

#7 The LBD(Little Black Dress)
The crucially iconic "little black dress" or (LBD) has become a whirlwind of a phenomenon. Personally, I'm trying to make the LWD happen, but we'll see about that in another 50 years. Of course Audrey Hepburn invented the LBD in her role as Holly Golightly in the film Breakfast at Tiffanys. (Which I really need to quit watching before I start calling everyone "Dahl-ing".) What more can I say? The LBD is perfection.

#8 The Statement Necklace
The statement necklace is still a huge fashion trend. What I love about the newer fashion trends lately, is how easy it is for everyone who loves fashion to indulge without paying the muy-high prices. It's an instant ornament piece for any outfit and is fabulous. And the origins? It's difficult to trace, but most likely goes back to royalty.

Who loves it? Everyone who walks the red carpet.

#9 The Classic Trench Coat
Although the origin of the trench coat is debated, Burberry comes out on top for me, because they are still famed for this iconic coat. It originates from Britain, so here's another thing we acquired from them! The rich khaki color and large buttons are so nostalgic, we yearn for it!

#10 Riding Boots
Obviously originally worn for riding horses, hence the name, they are worn today by anyone! These boots were also first used by the British Army, so lets take a moment to thank the Brits for these delicious riding boots! There's nothing sexier than crisp cream riding pants with some dirty riding boots! How not to wear them? With a heel! They're no longer really riding boots after that.

#11 Wide Leg Trousers
Where did the wide leg pants come from? Although there are numerous places to pin point an origin, I'm going to credit the 1970's bellbottoms. Bellbottoms were made highly popular by the hippie crowd, but everyone wore them. Today, wide leg pants have been streamlined and flare out only slightly all throughout the pants rather than just at the bottom. It's an exceptionally timeless look that deserves it's place on this list so I added a #11.

The worst red carpet fashion mishaps

 

Bjork (2001)

There’s something to be said for a woman willing to wear a dress shaped like a swan. And while the Icelandic music queen can do no wrong in her artistry, the infamous swan dress cannot be justified. (Unless worn as SNL skit, preferably by Kristen Wiig.)

Celine Dion (1998)
It takes a bold woman to wear a suit (read: Tilda Swinton), but Celine Dion’s backwards suit and fedora was all sorts of wrong on the Oscar red carpet. The good news is that she changed for her Heart Will Go On performance. The bad news is that she chose to wear a backwards suit.

Angelina Jolie (2000)

Evidently, 2000 was not a great year. And while Angelina Jolie earned that Oscar win for her turn in Girl, Interrupted, her homage to Morticia Addams was a bona fide “don’t.” Between the un-styled black hair, the black dress and the intimate moments with her brother (WHY), she almost made it impossible to stage a fashion comeback. Almost.

Diane Keaton (2004)
We love ourselves some Diane Keaton, but even the queen of gentleman-inspired fashion should’ve toned down the suit, tie and pants at 2004’s Oscars. True, she’s earned her right to wearing whatever, but thanks to the gloves, hat and carnation, she looked more like a My Fair Lady extra than an award-winning actress.

Uma Thurman (2004)
Another 2004 mishap, Uma Thurman’s homage to fairytales (maybe?) became a bridesmaids’ worst nightmare. With puffed sleeves, a full skirt, gold and bows, the normally fashionable actress used the Oscars to prove herself capable of dressing badly. Thankfully, she dresses well every other day.

Charlize Theron (2010)
Charlize Theron can usually do anything right, so imagine the shock of seeing the rose embellishment-clad lavender gown on the 2010 Oscar red carpet. Topped by a long flowing train and wrinkled fabric, she channeled prom queen over Oscar winner – only to reclaim her place as a fashion elite for award season

Taylor Swift In Style

Taylor Swift has been opting for more sophisticated designer fare of late, and steadily earning praise on the red carpet as a result. She seems to have graduated from those overly sequined, prom-style dresses to more sleek and refined gowns. Maybe her straightened locks were the catalyst for the transformation because even her street style appears to have blossomed since last year.

The singer’s sequin obsession seemed so evident back in October 2010 that her wax figure at Madame Tussauds New York was outfitted in an embellished Jenny Packham. In a slightly odd tribute, Taylor actually wore the same dress and black Christian Louboutins to the unveiling.

By the time Taylor appeared at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City the following October to launch her Wonderstruck fragrance, she was already starting to tone it down. Her black Tracy Reese striped sheer dress included a nude underlay and some subtle sparkle. Vintage House of Lavande jewels and black Miu Miu peep-toes finished off the look.

Reem Acra’s embellished Spring 2012 column gown was Taylor’s pick last November for the 2011 American Music Awards in Los Angeles. Jimmy Choo heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry along with her now signature straight hair rounded out the look.

Taylor was presented with the Woman of the Year Award in December at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event in New York City. Her fiery Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 draped dress with matching leather belt was teamed with Lorraine Schwartz gems and nude Prada pumps.

When she visited the Diana Memorial in London this January, Taylor toughened up her ASOS NW3 Annabel Cat Print dress with a Rick Owens leather biker jacket. She also carried a Rugby Ralph Lauren Pony Hair Saddle Bag.

Although Taylor was once again outfitted in sequins for February’s 54th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, her Zuhair Murad Fall 2011 Couture beaded gown had a bit of an edge. Neil Lane jewelry and a bun wrapped up the look.

Three days later, the star grabbed lunch at Toast Cafe in West Hollywood wearing a polka dot Dolce & Gabbana. She accessorized with a pair of Ricky sunglasses and an aqua saddle bag, both by Ralph Lauren.

It was this white J. Mendel Fall 2012 gown with metallic accents Taylor wore to the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas this April that really solidified her style evolution. Lorraine Schwartz gems and Christian Louboutin Summerissima crisscross platform sandals completed the look.

Taylor also made an impression at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards last month. She was a standout in a red Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2012 chiffon gown with lace bodice. Elie Saab was also behind her shoes, while she relied on Neil Lane for her jewelry.
