Late-Summer Hairstyle Ideas

Summer may be nearing its end, but the heat and humidity is not letting up! So we gathered our favorite seasonal braids and updos to keep you cool in every sense of the word. From Charlize Theron's red carpet rolls to runway French twists, check out these must-try hairstyles!
Charlize Theron's Retro Twist
The infallible Ms. Theron showed up at the Snow White and the Huntsman premiere looking impossibly perfect. We'd like to attribute a portion of this to her rolled updo—classic yet refreshing.
Nina Dobrev's Messy Side-Bun
Speaking of youth and romance, Nina Dobrev always manages to capture both with her long chocolate tresses. We were particularly fond of her side-swept curled bun at PaleyFest.
Donna Karan's Asymmetrical Side-Roll
Candice Swanepoel flaunted Donna Karan's asymmetrical victory roll—perfect for the little top hats the models wore down the runway.
Valentino's Renaissance Rolls
Much like Charlize's glamorous side-rolls, Valentino created an equally majestic 'do for their Fall 2012 models.
Jennifer Garner's Bobby-Pinned 'Do
After a short absence, Jennifer Garner returned to the red carpet with a vengeance wearing Lanvin's fiery dress and styling her hair in an intricately pinned 'do.
Rachel Bilson's Deep Side-Part
Rachel Bilson is a total doll and we love when she tries out new looks on the red carpet. For the summer TCA party, the actress balanced her boyish outfit with a vintage-inspired deep-parted updo.
Blugirl's Messy Side-Braid
We all love a classic side-braid, but Blugirl's undone version had a particularly whimsical "I just ran through a meadow and swung on a tree-swing" sort of look.
Anna Sui's Retro Ponytail
The bouffant ponytail is one of this year's most popular styles (just ask Jessica Biel). Anna Sui's runway look can be created with or without bangs by parting your face-framing tresses and adding texture to your crown.
Keira Knightley's Romantic Curled Updo
For perhaps our favorite hairstyle of the summer, Keira Knightley looked regal wearing a maroon garland in her twisted curls.
Kate Middleton's Elegant Chignon
Kate Middleton reportedly spends a fortune on her beauty regimen, so we can't beat ourselves up too much for not being able to replicate her shiny locks. This 'do, however, is definitely worth a shot.
Collette Dinnigan's Knotted Low 'Do
When it comes to hair it's all about the details. Collette Dinnigan's Fall 2012 'dos may look simple from afar, but up close you can see the girls' tresses are knotted like origami.
Olivia Palermo's Wavy Tendrils
Olivia Palermo, street style queen, has the messy 'do down. Just check out the long wavy face-framing strands she rocked at the Valentino Couture show in Paris.

Poll...Best Celebrity Street Style

Miranda Kerr: It's no secret, if there's one girl in this world who can make a classic button-up look incredible—especially with that white Equipment blouse, above—it's this Victoria's Secret Angel. We love how Miranda's street style somehow strikes the perfect balance of charming, sophisticated, and straight-up sizzling—everytime!

Olivia Palermo: You can't say "street style" without thinking "Olivia Palermo"—it's basically a direct correlation. Always dressed to the nines in look-at-me patterns, girlie frills, and creative embellishments, this stylish socialite treats every sidewalk sashay like it's her own personal runway.

Jessica Alba: A master of daytime dressing, you can always count on Jessica Alba to leave the house in an ensemble that's equal parts simple and chic—and something totally replicable by the rest of us. From her feminine blazers and ankle-length pants to her flowy skirts and bright accessories, this is the girl we want to look like in our downtime.

Taylor Swift: She might be a country girl at heart, but Tay doesn't show it in her sartorial selections. Never to be seen without bright accents, flirty day frocks and her signature saddle bag—not to mention winged liner and a red pout—the singer sure pulls off city style like a pro.

Rachel Bilson: On the opposite end of the spectrum from Mrs. Beckham, there's Rachel Bilson, whose sloppy-chic style somehow makes that rolled-out-of-bed look seem suprisingly stylish. Boyfriend jeans, billowy tanks and fabulous flats are the hallmarks of the Hart of Dixie star's wardrobe.

Victoria Beckham: Nobody does minimalism quite like VB. Ringing true to her Spice Girls nickname, VB's style is posh, Parisian, and well—perfection. We're hard-pressed to find a time when the singer-turned-designer isn't showing off her super-svelte figure in a structured silhouette or higher-than-heaven heels. Now if she could just once flash a smile—don't they say that's the best accessory of all?

Kate Bosworth: Low-key and unabashedly feminine, Kate Bosworth embodies effortless glamour in her stroll-the-street ensembles. The quickest way to copy her carefree style? Prints, prints, and more prints—from retro to floral to tribal, you better believe Kate has worn them all.

Alexa Chung: You didn't think we were going to leave out the queen of street style, did you? The quirky-cute fashion icon gives us something to envy each time she hits the pavement thanks to her eclectic mix of tomboy-meets-pretty and pretty-gone-edgy. Case in point—who else could make denim overalls work? Only this girl.

Pippa Middleton: Often left standing in big sis Kate Middleton's shadow, Pippa is free to shine when she's out on the town—and, well, she does. We love how she's not afraid to change up her look. One day she's in hot-pink pants, the next in a lacy frock with knee-high riding boots. She's certainly a girl to watch out for.
